Agonistic
Agonistic function
One of the two independent functions of Physis: the function that advances the individual's power claim — aggression, competition, dominance, the production of leadership, hierarchy and structure-building. Its distinguishing property is that it operates independently of scale: whatever it does between two individuals, it does the same between two companies, two states or two paradigms. It is not the opposite of the affiliative; the two run at the same time and independently of each other. One half of structural asymmetry comes from here — being indifferent to scale, it scales without friction.
